MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 15th August, 2018) The Turkish security forces killed at least one militant of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) and detained another one in the country's eastern province of Van as part of anti-terrorist raids, local media reported, citing the provincial governor's office.

According to the governor's office, the militants were neutralized during counterterrorism operations on Tuesday and Wednesday, the Anadolu news agency reported. They were reportedly preparing to launch a terrorist attack in the province's Baskale district.

The news outlet also said that the gendarmes confiscated four hand grenades and an M-16 rifle during the raids.

The Turkish security forces are carrying out regular operations against the PKK, which is listed as a terrorist organization by Ankara. The two sides have been involved in an armed conflict for almost four decades, reaching a ceasefire agreement in 2013 but breaching the truce in July 2015.
