Defense Minister Ali Abdullah Ayoub discussed on Tuesday with senior UN peacekeeping officers the return and the presence of UN peacekeepers on the Golan Heights along the line of disengagement with Israel, the Syrian Defense Ministry said.
DAMASCUS (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 14th August, 2018) Defense Minister Ali Abdullah Ayoub discussed on Tuesday with senior UN peacekeeping officers the return and the presence of UN peacekeepers on the Golan Heights along the line of disengagement with Israel, the Syrian Defense Ministry said.
"Syrian Defense Minister Ali Abdallah Ayoub met with a high-ranking delegation from the UN, comprising commanders of peacekeeping forces, including Commander of the UN forces operating on the Golan Heights under the 1974 Disengagement Agreement (UNDOF) Maj. Gen. Francis Vib-Sanziri," the ministry's press service said in a statement.
"The sides discussed the coordination between the Syrian government and the UN forces leadership on the redeployment of UN peacekeepers in the disengagement zone and along the ceasefire line in accordance with the 1974 Disengagement Agreement," the statement said.
