Israeli Servicemen Detain 3 Palestinians With Pipe Bombs in West Bank - Army

Israeli servicemen detained on Tuesday three Palestinians with pipe bombs in northern West Bank, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) press service said.

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 14th August, 2018) Israeli servicemen detained on Tuesday three Palestinians with pipe bombs in northern West Bank, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) press service said.

"Moments ago, IDF troops spotted three suspects near the village of Deir al-Hatab, east of Nablus. IDF troops apprehended the suspects and found four pipe bombs in their possession. The suspects were transferred to security forces for further questioning," the press service said on Twitter.

Earlier in the day, IDF troops uncovered an illegal weapons manufacturing workshop and seized machines used for manufacturing weapons near the city of Yatta, south of Hebron.

Several incidents with using firebombs and hurling rocks at IDF servicemen occurred earlier on Tuesday in the area, the press service said.

The news comes amid escalation of tension between Israel and Palestinian protesters on the border with the Gaza Strip. Last Wednesday, Palestinians launched about 180 rockets and mortar shells from Gaza, injuring seven Israelis, while the IDF responded with over 150 airstrikes aimed at military targets in the Gaza Strip.

The current wave of tension between the Israelis and the Palestinians near the Gaza border has been mounting since late March, which marked the beginning of the Palestinian protest campaign against Israel, dubbed the Great March of Return. Over 160 Palestinians were killed in clashes since that time.
