Kapil Dev, Sunil Gawaskar to not attend Imran Khan’s oath-taking ceremony

Kapil Dev has declined the invitation citing ‘personal reasons’.

Karachi (Pakistan Point News – 14th August, 2018) Former Indian cricketers Kapil Dev and Sunil Gawaskar, who were invited by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to attend Imran Khan’s oath taking ceremony as prime minister, have excused to come to Pakistan.

According to Indian media, former Indian captain Kapil Dev won’t be attending the oath-taking ceremony of Pakistan’s prime minister-in-waiting Imran Khan.

He has declined the invitation citing ‘personal reasons’.

He is one of the three cricketers from India invited to attend the leader’s swearing-in ceremony on August 18.

Earlier, Sunil Gavaskar had declined the invitation due to his commentary commitments during the ongoing England vs India Test series.

Former cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu has however accepted Imran's invitation to attend his oath-taking.

The PTI had invited the three to attend the oath-taking ceremony due to be held on August 18.

“Cricket legends from India and Kaptaan's old friends Kapil Dev, Sidhu and Sunil Gavaskar have been invited to attend Oath Taking Ceremony of Pakistan's PM Imran Khan,” wrote PTI Senator Faisal Javed in a tweet last week.
