Clash With Taliban In Northeast Afghanistan Leaves 12 Police Officers Killed - Reports

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 14th August, 2018) As many as 12 Afghan border police officers were killed and five others injured in a clash with Taliban militants in northeastern Takhar province, local media reported on Monday citing an official.

According to the Pajhwok news agency, the militants attacked the Aye-Khanum port in Dashti Qala district late on Sunday at about 1:30 a.m. local time (21:00 GMT Saturday).

The Taliban also suffered casualties but the agency said the number was unknown.

Afghanistan has long been destabilized by the conflict between the Taliban movement and the Afghan government, exacerbated by the activities of various terrorist groups.
