MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 13th August, 2018) The suspects of last weeks attack on police in the Jordanian town of Fuheis near Amman are believed to be the followers of the Islamic State terrorist group (IS, or Daesh, outlawed in Russia), Jordanian Interior Minister Samir Mbaidin said on Monday.
On Friday, a police officer was reportedly killed, while six others were injured when a bomb was detonated under a police car that was guarding a public event in the predominantly Christian town of Fuheis. After the incident, Jordans security forces held a series of raids and arrested five people after uncovering the suspects hideout in town of Salt. Four security servicemen lost their lives in the operations, according to media reports.
"Members of the terrorist cell are Jordanians � The terrorist cell is not organized, but they carry an extremist ideology and they support Daesh. Investigations with the detainees are ongoing and revealed other plots for carrying out a series of terrorist attacks," Mbaidin said at a press conference, as quoted by the Anadolu news agency.
The interior minister stressed that despite the suspects support for the ideology of the notorious terror group, they do not appear to have real links with the international extremists.
