A bomb explosion near the Afghanistan's Independent Election Commission (IEC) office building in the capital of Kabul on Monday claimed the life of a police officer and injured another, local media reported.

The blast occurred during a demonstration in support of 35 parliamentary election candidates who have been disqualified from running, according to the TOLOnews broadcaster.

Afghanistan's parliamentary and district council elections are scheduled for October 20. The Taliban radical movement has rejected Afghan President Ashraf Ghani's offer to participate in the vote.

A number of terrorist attacks have been carried out on election facilities in the country since the launch of voter registration process in April.
