NA session: Imran Khan shakes hand with Asif Zardari

Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 13th August, 2018) Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari shook hands at the inaugural session of 15th National Assembly today.

The prime minister in-waiting and the former president met during the oath-taking ceremony on Monday.

The sight was captured and widely shared on social media. However, the rare interaction was not reported on mainstream media. Asif Ali Zardari had that conventional smile on his face as he shook hands with Imran Khan.

Imran Khan also met PPP co-chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari inside the assembly hall.

As many as 324 newly elected Members of National Assembly took oath on Monday in the maiden session of 15th National Assembly. Outgoing National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq administered oath to the newly elected MNAs. The National Assembly session was adjourned after the lawmakers signed the roll call register.

PTI chairman Imran Khan, who has secured a simple majority in the polls required to form his government, is set to take the oath of prime minister on August 18.

The PTI emerged as the single largest party in the National Assembly with 116 general seats while with the addition of the general and reserved seats of its allies the party claimed to have secured at least 173 seats.
