Indian woman writes to Imran Khan for son’s release

An Indian software engineer has been serving sentence in a Pakistani jail for six years.

Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 10th August, 2018) An Indian woman has written a letter to incoming Prime Minister Imran Khan pleading early release of his son.

According to a news report published in a local newspaper, an Indian software engineer has been serving sentence in a Pakistani jail for six years.

The mother of 31-year-old engineer Hamid Ansari hoped that her son will complete his sentence December, following which he will be released.

Hamid’s mother Fauzia has written a letter to Imran Khan, pleading for her son’s early release. She also spoke to a former Indian minister to request former cricketers Sunil Gavaskar and Kapil Dev to convey her message to Imran Khan if they attend his oath-taking ceremony. She said that she has been waiting for her son for years.

Indian engineer Hamid Ansari had illegally entered Pakistan in November, 2012. He stayed at a friend’s place in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) for two days following which he shifted to a local hotel. When the secret agencies came to know about it, he arrested Hamid from there.

In 2015, a military court convicted Hamid alleging him of being an Indian spy. During interrogation, Hamid had confessed to entering Pakistan via Afghanistan’s Torkham border for spying purpose.

On the other hand, Hamid’s mother said that her son had come to Pakistan to meet a girl. However, she hoped that he will be sent back to India after completing his sentence in December.
