DEWA concludes annual strategy cascading workshops

DUBAI, (Pakistan Point News - 10th Aug, 2018) Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, DEWA, concluded a series of annual workshops in all its divisions to review issues related to cascading strategy as well as their compatibility and alignment with DEWA’s strategy and balanced scoreboard.

DEWA cascaded its strategy in compliance with the fourth-generation system of government excellence and continues its efforts to update divisional strategic plans and align them to its DEWA2021 strategy.

The workshops included the study of performance indicators and strategic initiatives to achieve the DEWA 2021 strategy, with the first workshop being launched on 28th June in collaboration with the Strategy and Government Communications division and other divisions at DEWA.

"Our strategies and plans are inspired by the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai. They are aligned with government plans and strategies, including the UAE Centennial 2071, a long-term government strategy that outlines the future development of the UAE; the UAE's Strategy for the Fourth Industrial Revolution, to strengthen the UAE's position as a global hub; the UAE Vision 2021; Dubai Plan 2021; Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050, and data supporting Dubai’s and the UAE’s transformation into a sustainable green economy," said Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.

"Various divisions and departments contribute to accomplishing DEWA’s vision. Our strategy is the cornerstone of all our successes and the roadmap to achieve our vision of becoming a sustainable innovative world-class utility. Over the next two years, we will focus on a strategic plan that will ensure a proper workflow in 2019 via a considered and budgeted plan of action based on innovative standards. DEWA’s strategy cascading workshops reflect our commitment to best practices in strategic planning and implementation. Strategy leadership and innovation are among the main contributors to DEWA’s growth and its development as a strategy-focussed organisation."

Al Tayer stressed that DEWA’s strategic planning model is based on three stages: strategy planning, cascading the strategy and implementing and assessing it.

DEWA is the first institution in the middle East and North Africa to join the Hall of Fame for strategy for its balanced scoreboard and its commitment to the five principles of the strategy-based organisation developed by Kaplan and Norton; creators of the Balanced Scorecard.
