DEWA first utility to receive British standard for effective governance

Dubai, (Pakistan Point News - 22nd Jul, 2018) Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, DEWA, has received the British Standard (BS 13500:2013) Code for Practice for Delivering Effective Governance, becoming the first utility in the world to implement this global standard.

The achievement underlines DEWA’s commitment to implementing the highest international corporate governance standards. the authority received the certification after a thorough auditing process by the British Standards Institute, BSI, to ensure DEWA’s processes are in line with effective governance standards.

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA, received the certificate from BSI delegation headed by Omar Rashid, General Manager of BSI middle East and Africa.

"Receiving the British Standard Code for Practice for Delivering Effective Governance underlines DEWA’s success in implementing effective governance. This supports our efforts to develop government work and achieve excellence in government services. This in turn, contributes to achieving the objectives of the UAE vision2021, and the Dubai Plan 2021, which aims for the Government of Dubai to be pioneering, excellent, transparent, reliable, and sustainable and innovative in the management of its resources," Al Tayer said.
