Islamabad, (Pakistan Point News - 18th Jul, 2018) : The caretaker Federal cabinet reversed on Wednesday an earlier order, paving the way for former PM Nawaz Sharif to attend court hearings outside the jail. Earlier, the caretaker government issued a notification, ordering that corruption proceedings against former PM Nawaz Sharif be held inside Adiala jail. On Wednesday, the government withdrew the notification. A new notification will soon be issued.

Briefing about the meeting, Caretaker Minister for Information and Broadcasting Barrister Syed Ali Zafar said trial of the former premier and his daughter Maryam Nawaz will now be held in open court. He explained that the decision to try them inside jail was taken in accordance with NAB law. The caretaker cabinet withdrew the notification for jail trials of the Al-Azizia Steel Mills and Flagship references. Caretaker Prime Minister Justice (retd) Nasirul Mulk presided over the cabinet session at PM House on Wednesday.

The withdrawal of the notification paves the ways for the remaining cases against former PM Nawaz Sharif to be heard in an open court. The Supreme Court disqualified in 2017 then PM Nawaz Sharif in the Panama papers case. The court ordered NAB to file three corruption references against Nawaz and his family. An anti-corruption court has sentenced the family in one of the three references � Avenfield. The former PM was awarded 11 years in jail and his daughter, Maryam Nawaz, was awarded eight. Maryam's husband, Capt (retd) Safdar was also handed a one-year sentence in the case. All three are currently in jail. They have appealed the decision.
