ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Jul, 2018 ) :An Islamabad High Court (IHC) division bench is likely to conduct hearing of appeals of former prime minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz and Capt (retired) Muhammad Safdar challenging the accountability verdict's in the Avenfield property reference on Tuesday.
The bench comprising Justice Mohsin Akhter Kiyani and Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb will hear the appeals filed by the Sharif family members separately.
The petitioners, in their appeals, have claimed that the accountability court had not fulfilled the legal requirements necessary to ensure justice in its judgment and that the decision was not in accordance with law as there were several flaws in it.
They prayed the court to nullify the judgment of lower court regarding their imprisonment sentence, disqualification and confiscation of the Avenfield property.
The convicts also requested the court to suspend the judgment and order to release them on bail till the IHC bench announced its verdict.
The petitioners have nominated National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and Accountability Court-I as respondents in their petitions.
