Ministry Of Climate Change Set 47.14 Million Trees Target During Monsoon

The ministry of climate change has set a target of 47.14 million trees plantation during Monsoon at national level in collaboration with armed forces, police, civil services, local bodies, corporations, municipalities, autonomous bodies, jails and educational institutions.
ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 14th Jul, 2018 ) :The ministry of climate change has set a target of 47.14 million trees plantation during Monsoon at national level in collaboration with armed forces, police, civil services, local bodies, corporations, municipalities, autonomous bodies, jails and educational institutions.
Talking to APP, Secretary Ministry of Climate Change, Khizer Hayat Khan said Punjab province had set a target of 12 million trees and achieved 16.8 million with a survival rate was 80 percent.
He said the province of Khyber Pukhtunkhwa had set a target of 52 million trees and achieved 30.10 million and survival rate was 82 percent. Balochistan province made a target of 1.5 million trees and reached 1.37 million with a survival percentage of 92, he added.
He informed that Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) had set a target of 5.24 million trees whereas it reached 5.33 million with survival rate 85 percent. Azad Jammu and Kashmir announced a target of 9.8 million trees achieving 13.37 million with survival rate of 70 percent, he said.
The International Union of Conservation of Nature had targeted 0.5 million trees to be planted and achieved 0.708 million with 80 percent target achieved. Pakistan Ordinance Factory set a target of 0.
50 million trees and achieved 0.708 millions with survival rate of 79 percent, he said.
Ministry of defense set a target of 1 million trees achieving 0.7 million with survival rate of 70 percent. Taxila Heavy Mechanical Industries set a target of 0.015 million and achieved 0.02 million with a survival rate of 70 percent. Pakistan Aeronautical Complex had target of 0.015 million trees and achieved 0.02 million with survival rate of 80 percent. The Sindh province, Capital Development Authority, Engro Fertilizers and National Highways had set targets of 12 million, 0.30 million, 4 million and 1 million trees respectively but the achieved number and survival rates were not updated, he opined.
He said all the provinces and federating units updated the participants about their Monsoon plantation targets including Punjab 9 million, Sindh 11 million, KPK 15 million, Baluchistan 0.6 million, Azad Jammu and Kashmir 3.6 million, Gilgit Baltistan 0.5 million, FATA 5.3 million, National Highway Authority 0.5 million, International Union of Conservation of Nature 0.5 million, Pakistan Ordinance Factory 20 thousand, Ministry of Defense 1 million, Aeronautical Complex 20 thousand and Heavy Mechanical Industries Taxila set the target of 1 lac.
