U.S. Service Member Killed In E. Afghanistan

A U.S. soldier succumbed to his injuries received in combat operations in Afghanistan's eastern region on Thursday, said a statement of U.S. military the USFOR stationed in Afghanistan, released here on Friday.
KABUL, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th Jul, 2018 ) :A U.S. soldier succumbed to his injuries received in combat operations in Afghanistan's eastern region on Thursday, said a statement of U.S. military the USFOR stationed in Afghanistan, released here on Friday.
"A U.S. service member died today of a wound sustained during a combat operation in eastern Afghanistan, July 12," the statement said.
The statement did not identify the name and the rank of the victim, saying "in accordance with U.S. Department of Defense policy, the name of the service member killed in action is being withheld until 24 hours after next of kin notification is complete.
" This is the second U.S. soldier who has been killed in Afghanistan over the past one week.
In the previous attack on U.S. military, a U.S. service member was killed and two other service members wounded during an apparent insider attack in southern Afghanistan on July 7.
Some 16,000-strong foreign troops within the framework of the NATO-led Resolute Support mission with majority of them Americans have been stationed in Afghanistan.
