Says if Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz are able to defend themselves, it will be considered a new sacrifice for democracy
Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 9th July, 2018) Renowned journalist and political analyst Sohail Warraich while talking on a tv program has said that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) won’t be affected much in the general elections.
The PMLN voters will still vote for the party despite Nawaz Sharif getting punished and going to jail.
If Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz do not return to the country, the voters will be disappointed. But the perception that they will bag sympathy votes and they will become a hero from a villain as they step the country is wrong. This takes a lot of time.
Recalling when Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was hanged to death, Warraich said that it took long for the opponents to realise that they are making him a hero. However, when Bhutto gave his life then people realised can some people can actually do this.
Similarly, if Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz are able to defend themselves it will be considered a new sacrifice for democracy.
The analyst further said that because PMLN represents the business middle class, they are expected not to give any sacrifices and people still have their reservations which will remain until Nawaz Sharif actually does something.
