IHC orders to remove Zulfi Bukhari's name from blacklist

Earlier, Zulfi Bukhari was granted one time permission by the Interior Ministry to travel Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah.

Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 6th July, 2018) The Islamabad High Court has ordered to remove Zulfi Bukhari’s name from the blacklist.

IHC judge Justice Amir Farooq announced the verdict on Bukhari’s petition. The court ordered to lift all travel restrictions on Zulfi Bukhari.

Zulfi Bukhari, a close friend of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan, was granted one time permission by the Interior Ministry to travel Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah.

Zulfi Bukhari was stopping from travelling to Saudi Arabia in last week of Ramzan as he accompanied Khan and his wife for Umrah. According to Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) sources, Bukhari was set to fly to Saudi Arabia from Rawalpindi via a chartered flight along with Khan and his wife when he was asked to disembark as his name is placed on the Exit Control List (ECL). However, Khan managed to take Bukhari along with him for Umrah after a phone call, following which Bukhari’s name was removed from the blacklist.

There were speculations that Imran had called the caretaker interior minister to remove Bukhari’s name from ECL.

Caretaker Minister for Interior Azam Khan later rejected the speculations that Imran Khan had phoned him to remove Bukhari's name from the blacklist.

Azam Khan said that Zulfi Bukhari’s name was placed on blacklist in absence of a cabinet committee so that he would not leave the country.

He said that Bukhari had asked for a one-time permission to travel abroad and submitted an affidavit stating that he would return. Following a request of Zulfi Bukhari, he was granted one time permission to leave the country.

Zulfi Bukhari has been facing offshore companies cases in National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
