Abdullah bin Zayed chairs 25th meeting of Education and Human Resources Council

ABU DHABI, (Pakistan Point News - 04th Jul, 2018) H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, chaired the 25th meeting of the Education and Human Resources Council in Abu Dhabi.

At the start of the meeting, His Highness welcomed Council members, and the minutes of the 24th meeting were adopted.

Sheikh Abdullah said that this week's announcement of high school exam results in the UAE is important for the Council to assist with this transitional phase for individuals moving on to higher education. The Council will need to meet with a number of objectives and tasks, and coordinate with different actors in the UAE to provide the necessary support for individuals pursuing higher education and employment, he added.

During the meeting, the Council reviewed a proposal of the Ministry of Education on private tutoring lessons, and the views of parents' on the reasons why they invest in private tutoring. The Council then discussed the study outcomes and findings, and placed recommendations for the ministry to take forward to ensure better services for children and their guardians.

The Council then went on to review the latest developments and implementation plans for obtaining a teacher's licence, under the supervision of the Ministry of Education.

For its part, the Education Affairs Office at the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince's Court reviewed the results of a standardised evaluation test of the 'moral education pilot programme'. The moral education committee launched the unified programme evaluation in March 2018, and encompassed 4,912 students in the third, fifth, seventh and ninth grades in 49 public and private schools across the Emirates.

The Education Affairs Office made four recommendations to further improve the evaluation results, including the development of a comprehensive evaluation database, as well as the development of a framework for contracting with various executive bodies, and the establishment of a committee to review and develop evaluation content for the programme.

Hussain bin Ibrahim Al Hammadi, Minister of Education, Noura bint Mohammed Al Kaabi, Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development, Hessa Essa Buhumaid, Minister of Community Development, Dr. Ahmad bin Abdullah Humaid Belhoul Al Falasi, Cabinet Member and Minister of State for Higher Education and Advanced Skills, Shamma bint Suhail Faris Al Mazrui, Minister of State for Youth Affairs, and Sarah bint Yousef Al Amiri, Minister of State attended the meeting.

Also present were Dr. Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of Education and Knowledge Department (ADEK), Dr. Abdulla Al Karam, Chairman of the board of Directors and Director General of the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), and Mohamed Khalifa Al Nuaimi, Director of the Education Affairs Office at the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince's Court.
