CJP Nisar should have talked to Larkana judge in person rather 'humiliating' publicly

CJP Nisar’s point was right but his way to prove it was wrong: Arif Nizami

Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 27th June, 2018) Renowned journalist Arif Nizami while talking on a tv program has said that there are two sides of the issue of chief justice ‘humiliating’ the Larkana judge.

He said that these are lower courts and are under High Court but since the chief justice has been taking suo moto notices on everything so probably, his point was that the lower courts are not functioning properly when he picked up the additional sessions judge phone and threw it. But unfortunately, there are cameras everywhere.

Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar’s point was right but his way was wrong. This humiliated a person who was not a fan of the chief justice, he said, adding that since his name is Zameer Solangi, his conscience made him resign.

The chief justice should have said him in person that he should leave the phone in his chamber but he did not do so, Nizami added.

CJP Nisar had expressed anger at the sessions judge during a surprise visit to district courts in Larkana on Saturday. After inquiring into the lower court's ongoing proceedings, the chief justice expressed anger after he spotted the judge's mobile phone on his desk. He picked up the judge’s mobile phone and threw it on his desk, warning the judge to leave his mobile phone in his chamber during hearings.

Following this, additional sessions judge Solangi sent his resignation to Sindh High Court registrarbut according to High Court sources, Solangi had sent his resignation on a plain paper and such a resignation cannot be accepted.

In his resignation letter, Solangi wrote that he was posted in Larkana on March 20, 2017. He stated that he is resigning because of the chief justice's humiliating behaviour during ongoing proceedings of his court, which was widely aired in the electronic, print and social media.

He further said that he has suffered deep anguish and injury to his self-respect and dignity and therefore, he is unable to continue his job with the esteemed organisation.
