Rupee devaluation: Toyota increases car prices yet again

Prices to be increased by as much as Rs 1.9 million

Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 26th June, 2018) Following the devaluation of Pakistani rupee against Dollar, car manufacturing company Toyota is also increasing the prices of most of its cars.

The Indus Motor Company (IMC) will be increasing the prices of its vehicles for the third time this year. The previous two price revisions were also made due to devaluation of Pakistani currency.

Other major auto manufacturing companies have also increased the prices of their vehicles over the same reason.

The company has not yet announced the exact date of the implementation of new prices. However, sources said that they will come into effect after July 1.

Earlier, the prices of IMC vehicles were increased by Rs 300,000, effective from March 22. The prices will be increased by as much as Rs 1.9 million for some of the models of Toyota cars this time.

Following Toyota, Honda is also expected to increase the prices of its vehicles.

Earlier, for the third time this year, Japanese auto company Suzuki also decided to increase the prices of its cars by Rs 30,000, effective from June 1. The prices were increased due to devaluation of Pakistani Currency against dollar.

The company said that the cost of imports of raw material and other goods increase due to devaluation of Pakistani rupee against dollar. Therefore, the unit cost of the cars increases as most units are imported instead of being produced locally.
