HYDERABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th Jun, 2018 ) :The Sindh Chamber of Agriculture (SCA) has requested the caretaker government to ensure supply of irrigation water in the tail-end areas and take action against the sale of spurious pesticides and fertilizers.
A meeting of the SCA at its secretariat here on Sunday, chaired by its President Qabool Muhammad Khatian, also called for reducing the prices of diesel and fertilizers.
Khatian said despite abundant supply of water in the Indus River an artificial shortage was being created in the tail end areas. He said the shortage was adversely affecting the cotton and other crops.
Mirpurkhas, Umerkot, Badin, Tando Muhammad Khan, Tando Allahyar and some other districts were the most affected due to water shortage, he added.
The SCA president said the farmers had also been financially affected by the continuous increase in the prices of fertilizers and diesel. He urged the government to reduce the prices of both diesel and fertilizers.
Zahid Hussain Bhurgari, Syed Aijaz Nabi Shah, Nabi Bux Sathio, Mir Abdul Kareem Talpur, Muhammad Khan Sarejo, Nawaz Samejo and other office bearers and members of the SCA attended the meeting.
