District admin to conduct 9-day long anti-awareness drive in Peshawar

District administration Peshawar has announced nine-days long special awareness campaign against dengue virus in the district.

PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Jun, 2018 ) :District administration Peshawar has announced nine-days long special awareness campaign against dengue virus in the district.

During the campaign, 2500 community health workers and 1100 Lady Health Workers (LHWs) will carry door-to-door awareness drive and mechanical sweeping in the district.

This was announced during a one-day awareness seminar on dengue virus and its eradication. The staff of health department and community health workers attended the meeting at large.

Besides, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Shahid Ali Khan, Assistant Commissioner (AC), Mohammad Mughees Sanaullah, District Health Officer (DHO), Dr Gul Mohammad, Dr Anwar Jamal, DDHO, Dr Ikhtiar Ali, Dr Mohammad Asif, Dr Basit Rasheed, dengue specialist, Entomologist and representatives of World Health Organization (WHO) and UNICEF.

During the seminar the participants were told in detail about dengue virus and preventive measures against it.

They were also briefed in detailed about the nine-day long awareness campaign.

The participants were told that 2500 Community Health Workers and 1100 LHWs will carry door-to-door campaign regarding dengue virus and its eradication and will also told about preventive measures. Free posters and pamphlets will also be distributed during the campaign.

Similarly, during the campaign, the Additional Assistant Commissioners (AACs) and staff of Water Supply & Sanitation Programme (WSSP) will visit bazaars to check tyres and spare-parts laid under open sky to initiate proceedings against them under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC).

The participants of the seminar were further told that dengue virus is spread with bit by femalemosquito, which give eggs in clean water. Therefore, the participants were toldabout adopting preventive measures.
