BUCHAREST, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st Jun, 2018 ) :Romania will host, as a first, the World Rugby U20 Trophy, from August 25 to September 9, the second most important competition in the world in this age category.
Eight teams will participate in the competition organized by the Romanian Rugby Federation (FRR) in collaboration with World Rugby: Romania, Samoa, Fiji, Namibia, Uruguay, Portugal, Hong Kong and Canada.
The matches will take place on the National Stadium Arch of Triumph in Bucharest on August 28, September 1, 5 and 9, with the winner of the competition to promote to the World Championship, replacing Japan, which were relegated at the end of this year's edition, held in France.
'We are glad to host the U20 World Rugby Trophy, our passion for organizing competitions and the previous experience with the Nations Cup tournaments held in Bucharest are now exceeded by a unique opportunity.
This competition may represent a zero point of the Romanian rugby, the birth of a generation that in a few years will fight to take Romania among the best nations of the World Cup of rugby.
It is important that in these moments "we should be united, come along with the 'little oaks' and support these young players, who will not have an easy mission in a competition like a real World Cup. We hope that with the support of World Rugby, the Youth and Sport Ministry and all our partners, it will be a memorable event, with good rugby," said Alin Petrache, FRR President.
Romania is part of Group A, alongside Samoa, Namibia and Hong Kong, while Group B is made up of Portugal, Uruguay, Fiji and Canada.
