ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st Jun, 2018 ) :Pakistan sports board (PSB) Thursday said table tennis players will not be participating in the Asian Games due to the brawl between two parallel groups.
The 18th edition of the Asian Games will take place in Jakarata from August 18 to September 2. Talking to APP, a PSB official said one table tennis group is led by Khawaja Wadood and the other by S.M. Sibtain.
"PSB recognizes Khawaja-headed body while S.M. Sibtain-led body is accepted by the Pakistan Olympic Association (POA). Therefore the current status of table tennis stands disputed leading to the loss of players' future and talent," he said.
Speaking about Asian Games preparations, he said training camps have been set up in three centers including Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi.
He said boxing, weightlifting, handball, karate, athletics, baseball and taekwondo camps are installed in Islamabad. "Wrestling, wushu, men's swimming and ju-jitsu camps have been set up in Lahore while women's swimming camp in Karachi," he said.
He said the hockey training camp will be set up later after national team's participation in the Champions Trophy at Netherlands. "PSB will support those federations which are not affiliated withPOA," he said.
