New Zealand PM becomes second world leader after Benazir Bhutto to give birth while in office

In a co-incidence, Jacinda Adern gave birth to a baby girl on Benazir Bhutto’s birthday

Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 21st June, 2018) New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has given birth to a baby girl today, Thursday, becoming the second world leader after Benazir Bhutto to have a child while in office.

In a post on her official Instagram account, Ardern said the baby arrived at 4.45 pm local time, weight 3.31 kilograms (7.3 Pounds).

"Thank you so much for your best wishes and your kindness. We're all doing really well thanks to the wonderful team at Auckland City Hospital," she said in her post.

In a co-incidence, the New Zealand PM gave birth to a baby girl on the same date Benazir Bhutto was born. Interestingly she is the second Prime Minister who gave birth while holding PM office after Benazir Bhutto.

Twitter users were quick to point out that the baby shares a birthday with Prince William and former Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, who was the first leader to have a baby while in office in 1990.

Bakhtawar Bhutto, Benazir's daughter who was born while she was in office, congratulated Ardern on Twitter.

"Congratulations to Prime Minister @jacindaardern on the wonderful news," she wrote.

Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Sherry Rehman also tweeted on the news.

“Congratulations to New Zealand’s PM Jacinda Adern, who has given birth to a baby girl. In 1990, SM Benazir Bhutto was the first female sitting PM to give birth to Bakhtawar Bhutto Zaradari. Today is also SMBB’s birthday,” she wrote.
