Asma Hamid removed as Punjab Advocate General

PTI welcomes the decision to dismiss Hamid’s appointment

Lahore (Pakistan Point News – 20th June, 2018) Punjab Advocate General Asma Hamid has been removed from the post upon directives from Punjab caretaker chief minister.

Asma Hamid will continue serving as Additional Advocate General of Punjab. Additional Advocate General Shan Gul has been given additional charge of Advocate General after dismissing Hamid’s appointment to the post.

Welcoming the decision, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) spokesperson Fawad Chaudhry said that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) had appointed Hamid in the last days of its tenure. It is the right decision to remove him. The PTI leader also demanded to immediately change Punjab’s district administration.

The PTI had written a letter to chief election commissioner and Punjab caretaker chief minister, demanding to dismiss the appointment of first female Advocate General of Punjab Asma Hamid.

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif did this important appointment just two days before the government was going to be dissolved. The PTI said that it will become a challenge for caretaker government and Election Commission.

The letter was written by PTI spokesperson Fawad Chaudhry. The PTI had demanded in the letter to immediately dismiss Asma Hamid’s appointment.

Expressing its reservations, the PTI said that appointments based on favoritism are an attempt of pre-poll election rigging. Hamid has been appointed to return the favor. The PTI was of the view that Hamid’s qualification is only of loyalty and contact with the Sharif family. Hamid’s father and uncle are Sharif family loyalists.
