ANP Unveils Manifesto For General Election 2018

The Awami National Party (ANP) Tuesday announced manifesto for general election 2018 in which establishment of durable peace and stability in the country and education were declared top priorities.

The manifesto was unveiled by ANP Secretary General Mian Iftikhar Hussain at a press conference here at Bacha Khan Markaz.
He said the ANP had implemented its manifesto during its last stint in power and would implement it in letter and spirit in future too.
He said the party did not believe in the agenda of 100 days and was presenting a five-year plan.
Establishment of permanent durable peace would be the top priority if the party would be voted to power and no one would be allowed to breach national security, he added.
Mian Iftikhar said the country had been facing dangers and threats both internally and externally and the party would review all the existing policies in that regard and evolve an effective strategy to deal the same.
Mian Iftikhar said education sector needed revolutionary reforms and like its last government, the ANP would pay special focus on it. Children up to the age of 16 years would be provided free education while urdu, English and Chinese would be taught as language, he added.
He said under the comprehensive plan for education sector, a university would be established in each district and a college at the provincial assembly constituency level.
Financial and administrative matters of the Primary education would be handed over to local governments, he added.
He said both boy and girl students would be granted scholarships.
He said the party would continue its efforts for reforms in judicial system and police, protection of human rights and minorities' rights, and implementation of 18th Constitutional Amendment.
To a question, he said the party had made no decision regarding electoral alliance. However, the party office bearers at district chapters had been empowered to make seat adjustments with other parties, he added.
He said a comprehensive programme with an insurance plan would be framed for the rehabilitation of terrorism affected persons.
He said a judicial complex would be constructed at each district of the province and instead of engaging Supreme Court in the constitutional problems, they would support establishment of a separate constitutional court in the country.
Mian Iftikhar said the rights of women would be protected and they would be given equal employment opportunities.
He said 6 percent of the gross domestic product would be allocated for health. sports complexeswould be constructed in all districts of the province, while minimum wage would be increased to Rs.25,000 per month, he added.
