National Highways and Motorway Police continues imposing fine on transporters for charging excessive fare

As part of its ongoing crackdown against overloading and charging excessive fares from passengers, the National Highways and Motorway Police (NH&MP) on Friday imposed fine of Rs 82,000 on the transporters.

HYDERABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Jun, 2018 ) :As part of its ongoing crackdown against overloading and charging excessive fares from passengers, the National Highways and Motorway Police (NH&MP) on Friday imposed fine of Rs 82,000 on the transporters.

According to an NH&MP spokesman, coaches, buses and vans plying on the M9 Motorway, Lyari Expressway and National Highway till Matiari district were penalized for the offences.

He said during the campaign, which was started on June 8, the NH&MP had imposed total Rs.1.316 million fine on 1,710 transporters, including 370 vans and 1,340 buses and coaches. Around 7,000 passengers, who were charged excessive fare of total Rs.1.53 million, were repaid their money, he added.

The spokesman said the crackdown was launched on the directives of NH&MP acting Inspector General Khalid Mehmood.
