Afghanistan confirms Mullah Fazlullah’s killing in US strike

A US drone strike in Afghanistan’s Kunar has killed the TTP leader

Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 15th June, 2018) Afghanistan’s Defence Ministry has confirmed that Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) chief Mullah Fazlullah was killed in a US drone strike.

Afghanistan’s Defence Ministry spokesperson Mohammad Radmanish told CNN, “A US drone strike in Afghanistan’s northeastern Kunar province has killed the leader of the TTP.”

Meanwhile, a senior intelligence officer confirmed to a local newspaper that Mullah Fazlullah was traveling in a Toyota fielder vehicle along with four other commanders when they were targeted by a drone strike at 11:00pm on June 13 in Afghanistan’s Kunar province.

There have been reports on Thursday that the TTP chief was killed in the US drone strike in the northeastern province of Kunar.

Mullah Fazlullah was named TTP chief after the death of Hakimullah Mehsud in a drone strike in November, 2013. The TTP leader had a reputation as a ruthless commander prepared to do anything to impose his version of Islamic Shariah.

Mullah Fazlullah was responsible for a number of militant attacks in Pakistan. He had targetted Malala Yousafzai in Swat and was the mastermind of Army Public school Attack.
