Says this was government’s own decision
Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 15th June, 2018) Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman Imran Khan's close friend Zulfi Bukhari was not allowed to travel to Saudi Arabia on Monday.
According to Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) sources, Bukhari was set to fly to Saudi Arabia from Rawalpindi via a charter flight along with Imran and his wife when he was asked to disembark as his name is placed on the Exit Control List.
However, Khan managed to take Bukhari along with him for Umrah after a phone call, following which Bukhari’s name was removed from the blacklist. Khan is being criticized for this act.
Commenting on this, renowned journalist Sami Ibraheem said that there Khan is being criticized for two days for violating his principles and taking protocol like other politicians.
“He got Bukhari’s name out of ECL. However, sources in Interior Ministry has confirmed to me that Khan did not talk to the interior secretary about it. Khan did not contact Interior Ministry. This was government’s own decision,” he said.
“Bukhari had made a call himself, following which his name was removed from the ECL. There have been such precedents before where someone’s name is removed from ECL after assurance that they will return to the country,” the journalist added.
