Petroleum prices to remain unchanged for June, decides interim govt

Justice (Retd) Nasirul Mulk-led caretaker government has decided not to hike prices of petroleum products for the current month, June. Interim Finance Minister Shamshad Akhter said that she would not make a decision like increasing the fuel prices.

Islamabad, (Pakistan Point News - 8th Jun, 2018) : Justice (Retd) Nasirul Mulk-led caretaker government has decided not to hike prices of petroleum products for the current month, June. Interim Finance Minister Shamshad Akhter said that she would not make a decision like increasing the fuel prices. On May 30, Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) sent the summary to the finance minister, seeking an increase in petroleum prices. The ministry forwarded the summary to former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi who did not give a response to it, leaving the matter for caretaker government. The OGRA had proposed an increase in the price of petrol by Rs8.37 per litre and an increase of Rs12.5 per litre in diesel prices. Moreover, the authority had also recommended an increase of Rs8.30 and Rs11.65 in kerosene oil and diesel oil, respectively.
