Alauddin Marri appointed Balochistan caretaker CM

The appointment was made by ECP following parliamentary committee deadlock

Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 7th June, 2018) The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has nominated Alauddin Marri as the caretaker chief minister of Balochistan after the parliamentary committee of the provincial assembly failed to reach a consensus.

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Justice Sardar Muhammad Raza convened a meeting to make consultation on the four proposed Names for Balochistan CM to be referred by the Balochistan Assembly speaker to the ECP.

The former provincial government had suggested the names of Sardar Shoukat Popalzai and Alauddin Marri for the post of the caretaker chief minister while the former opposition had nominated Mohammad Aslam Bhutani and Ashraf Jahangir Qazi.

After failure of former government and opposition leader, the parliamentary committee of Balochistan also failed to reach on one name for caretaker CM for Balochistan.

Under legal condition, after failure in reaching consensus of former CM and leader of opposition in Balochistan and also failure of parliamentary committees of province, now the ECP will decide the name of caretaker CM of the province.

After expiry of tenure of provincial assembly on May 31, the former CM and Opposition leader had time-frame up to June 3 to make consensus on one name for caretaker CM. Later the parliamentary committee had time-frame up to June 6 to finalize one name and then the ECP had the time-frame from June 7 to June 8 to decide the name of caretaker CM of Balochistan.
