Waqar Younis tweets apology for celebrating Waseem Akram’s birthday in Ramzan

Wasim Akram celebrated his 52nd birthday on Sunday

Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 3rd June, 2018) Pakistani cricketing legend Wasim Akram celebrated his 52nd birthday on Sunday while the team was playing against in Leeds Test.

However, cutting the cake during Ramzan offended some on the social media, asking the cricket stars to respect people who were fasting.

Following this, head coach Waqar Younis took to Twitter and apologized for cutting Waseem Akram’s birthday cake.

“Apologise to everyone for cutting cake on Waseem Bhai’s birthday yesterday. We should have respected Ramadan and the people who were fasting,” he said.

Younis said that it was a poor act on their behalf and said #SORRY.

Sports journalist Zainab Abbas had posted pictures of celebrating Waseem Akram’s birthday in the stadium.

“While Pakistan’s misery continued onfield the press box celebrated Waseem Akram’s birthday,” Zainab wrote.

This followed criticism by the people for not fasting during Ramzan.
