Water scarcity: Twitterati initiates #SaveWaterforPak campaign

According to UNDP, Pakistan will reach absolute water scarcity by the year 2025

Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 2nd June, 2018) Twitterati in Pakistan has initiated a campaign to save water for the country.

Some of the recent studies have threatened that there will be no water in Pakistan by 2025. Reports by United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources (PCRWR) have alerted that the country will reach absolute water scarcity by the year 2025.

Pakistan is on its way to become the most water-stressed country in the region, by the year 2040, according to the report.

As this water scarcity threat looms over the country, bloggers on Twitter have taken an initiative of Save Water campaign and #SaveWaterforPak is one of the top trends on Twitter.

German Ambassador to Pakistan Martin Kobler also followed the trend

This is high time that people start realizing the importance of water and start saving it as much as they can. This responsibility lies on each and every person residing within Pakistan as water shortage is what the country cannot afford with its increasing population.
