Muzaffarabad (Pakistan Point News - 25th May, 2018 ) Justice Supreme Court Mustafa Mughal in his capacity as the Chief Election Commissioner presented the report of the General Elections held in Azad Jammu and Kashmir in 2016 to Sardar Masood Khan, President Azad Jammu and Kashmir at the President House here today. The President congratulated the Chief Election Commissioner for the successful conduct of a free and fair election in AJK.
He said that Justice Mustafa Mughal’s successfull stewardship of the election was commeneded by all. President AJK said that conduct of these elections were commended by all political parties and institutions of the State. The methodology of the elections was also appreciated by all segments of society in Pakistan. The President, in particular, paid tribute to the supportive role played by the Armed Forces and security forces which resulted in the smootha and largly peaceful elections, as well as the uninterrupted functioning of the election machinery. The President said that the people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir are committed to stregnthening of democracy and democratic norms; and elections in this regard play a pivitol role.
