MMA applies to Election Commission of Pakistan for grant of :book

The MMA has formally applied to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for the grant of "Book" as election symbol in the forthcoming elections

Lahore, (Pakistan Point News - 24th May, 2018) : The MMA has formally applied to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for the grant of "Book" as election symbol in the forthcoming elections. The application was filed by the MMA Secretary General, Liaqat Baloch on Thursday. He was accompanied by the representatives of all parties of the religious alliance, These included Mian Muhammad Aslam, Arif Husain Wahidi, Maulana Abdur Rauf, Maulana Abdullah, Kashif Chaudhry, Saifullah Gondal advocate, Ishtiaq Butt and Maulana Mashud Salfi.

Talking to the media outside the Election Commission offices, Liaqat Baoch said that the MMA had started mass contact and preparations for elections in a big way. He said the National Workers Convention and the Minar e Pakistan rally had given a new life to the religious voters and the MMA was destined to play a key role in the 2018 elections. He said that the MMA President Maulana Fazlur Rehman would announce the election manifesto of the religious alliance on June 4.

He said that the central and provincial parliamentary boards of the MMA had been announced and the district level bodies of the alliance would recommend the Names of the National assembly and Provincial assemblies candidates. He said that after Eidul Fitr, the MMA would hold electoral meetings at Peshawar, Multan, Karachi, Quetta, Rawalpindi and Abbotabad and the last public meeting would be held in Karachi. The MMA Secretary General said that the revival of the MMA had caused a stir among the secular elements.

He said that every effort would be made that the votes of religious and patriotic people were not divided and to take along all religious parties because the split among the religious parties had done irreparable loss to the country's ideological character. Liaqat Baloch said that the young generation had great expectations from the MMA and Ulema, Mashaikh. He said the objectives of the creation of the MMA were the enforcement of the Nizam e Mustafa, the Islamic system of justice, economic progress, ending corruption, provision of basic health and education facilities to all. Liqat Baloch deplored the delay in the announcemn4ent of the care taker set up and said it would be advisable that the decision in this respect was taken without further delay. He hoped that the Election Commission would ensure fair, free and transparent elections.
