Anti-polio Campaign Launched In Karachi, Lahore And Islamabad

Karachi/Lahore/Islamabad, (Pakistan Point News – 26th September, 2016) : An anti-polio campaign has begun in several parts of the country including Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad on Monday. A 3-day anti-polio campaign began in Lahore and 4300 teams are taking part in the campaign. The target is expected to vaccinate 1.6 million children. A 6-day anti-polio campaign has started in Karachi. A team of 12000 volunteers will vaccinate 2.2 million children in 188 UCs. A 3-day anti-polio campaign has begun in Islamabad where 600 volunteers are expected to vaccinate 140,000 children.High security measures have been taken to assure safety of polio teams. Pakistan hopes to be removed from the list of polio-endemic countries by 2018 by achieving its goal of no fresh cases for a year.
