Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) has adopted a comprehensive strategy to further strengthen its 44 regional offices across the country to ensure quality education and to provide best possible academic services to the students

Islamabad, (Pakistan Point News - 14th May, 2018) : Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) has adopted a comprehensive strategy to further strengthen its 44 regional offices across the country to ensure quality education and to provide best possible academic services to the students. A regular training process has been undertaken to upgrade professional capability of the relevant staff. The regional offices were activated to increase students' enrollment in various programs and strengthen the University's role as a research-based organization.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shahid Siddiqui attached special importance to the up-gradation of the regional network and took a number of initiatives during the last three and half years to achieve this cherished goal. Professional development of the staff was the main focus. Besides this, necessary steps were also taken to overcome shortage of regional offices' staff. Meanwhile due departmental promotions were also given to existing staff. The process of enhancing the regional offices' potential is also being achieved through use of smart of new technology.

The offices have been provided necessary infrastructure support as well. The offices' libraries have been upgraded to facilitate the students to get academic support in their research work. Addressing a recent held regional directors' meeting, Dr. Shahid Sididqui emphasized that the officers and staff should work with an innovative and pro-active approach to maintain the University's leading position in the distance learning system. While referring to competitors in the field of distance education, he said the AIOU enjoys rich capacity, both in term of infrastructure and academic excellence to uphold its leading position.
