National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases opens its seventh modern satellite center in Sindh

The National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) in its efforts to provide specialized heart care facilities to the rural population at their door steps has opened its seventh state-of-the-art satellite centre at Mithi in Tharparkar

KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 8th May, 2018 ) :The National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) in its efforts to provide specialized heart care facilities to the rural population at their door steps has opened its seventh state-of-the-art satellite centre at Mithi in Tharparkar.

Executive Director, NICVD, Professor Nadeem Qamar sharing with media persons the details of the facility that was turned functional in collaboration with Sindh government, said people belonging to the area will receive free of cost specialized interventional services at the satellite centre.

NICVD Mithi was said to be equipped with cardiac facilities of international standards including comprehensive diagnostic as well as treatment modalities. "Our motive is to provide the population of interior Sindh with quality care," said Prof.

Nadeem Qamar. Services to be available at Mithi centre were said to include provision for cardiac emergency, interventional Cardiology (encompassing Primary PCI (Angioplasty during heart attack), Adult and Paediatric Cardiology) besides consulting Clinics, echocardiography, critical care for the population of the Thar district and its peripheries.

The NICVD chief said the institute during past one year has established state-of-the-art cardiac satellite centers at Larkana, Tando Muhammad Khan, Hyderabad, Sehwan, Sukkur and Nawabshah. All these six centres were claimed to be providing, free of cost, world class best cardiac facilities to the patients.

"We have successfully performed 1,256 procedures at NICVD Larkana, 1,070 at NICVD Tando Muhammad Khan, 714 at NICVD Hyderabad, 297 at NICVD Sehwan, 588 at NICVD Sukkur and 79 at NICVD Nawabshah respectively," he said.

The Executive Director of NICVD mentioned that the centre at Larkana was established in April 2017, Tando Muhammad Khan in October 2017, Hyderabad in November 2017, Sehwan in December 2017, Sukkur in February 2018 and Nawabshah in April 2018.

The data being shared was said to be till April 30. To a query, he said the next or the 8th NICVD satellite centre will be made operational in Khairpur in the current month and expressed his gratitude to the provincial government for its support to make the effort meaningful.
