South Punjab Mahaz to integrate into PTI

The official announcement will be made tomorrow after a meeting with Imran Khan

Lahore (Pakistan Point News – 8th May, 2018) The South Punjab Mahaz has decided to join Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

According to media reports, the dialogue between PTI and South Punjab Mahaz has been successful. The official announcement to integrate South Punjab Mahaz into the PTI will be made tomorrow. The group of South Punjab Mahaz, comprising 15 resigned lawmakers, will meet PTI chairman Imran Khan on Wednesday. A joint press conference will be held afterwards and the integration of South Punjab Mahaz and PTI will be announced.

PTI’s Information Secretary Fawad Chaudhry has also confirmed the news. He said that South Punjab Mahaz will join the PTI tomorrow and further details of this integration will be shared tomorrow.

The leaders of South Punjab Mahaz and PTI held a meeting last month. PTI leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi held a press conference along South Punjab Mahaz leader Khusro Bakhtyar in Lahore after the meeting.

PTI vice chairman Queshi said that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) has promoted deprivation among the people of South Punjab. A new province will be created in the country with the alliance of several political parties. Qureshi said that Khusro Bakhtyar’s actual place is in PTI.

At least eight lawmakers of PMLN belonging to South Punjab had announced quitting the party in April. The defiant PMLN leaders said that South Punjab Province is their one-point agenda. We have united over the mission to create a separate province for South Punjab, they said. The resignations were announced in a press conference held in Lahore. Eight lawmakers, including Khusro Bakhtyar and Tahir Bashir, had announced to give their resignations.

These eight lawmakers included six members of the National Assembly and two of Provincial Assembly. Bakhtyar said that the resignations are given to voice the creation of a separate province for South Punjab.

Several other people also joined the South Punjab Mahaz later.
