Social Media Crime: Woman fools and blackmails Rawalpindi resident, collects $900

Danish was blackmailed to make further payments otherwise US Embassy will investigate against him

Rawalpindi (Pakistan Point News – 8th May, 2018) A youth from Rawalpindi got in the trap of some fraudulent people on social media.

Danish, a resident of Rawalpindi, was blackmailed when a woman told her that she is an American soldier in Afghanistan. Danish told her all her details and the woman in turn pretended to send a money box which in turn had some fake evidence against him.

The woman took $900 from Danish in bank account under Customs requirements. The account was opened in the name of Zahoor Hussain in Rawalpindi Sadar. The woman told Danish that his money box is present in the US Embassy in Pakistan. The head of the gang David appeared to him as an American diplomat and collected the payment.

After this, Danish was blackmailed to make further payments otherwise his courier will be scanned and threatened that the US Embassy will investigate against him if they find something in the courier. When the matter was disclosed and investigations were held, it was revealed that Danish was made a fool.

The use of social media is common these days. Where it helps in communication at one hand, it also leads to several fraudulent activities. Cyber crimes are on the rise and cyber crime forces have directed the citizens, particularly smart phone users not to trust anonymous people on social media. It is possible that the account is fake and they try to blackmail you.
