Actor Adnan Siddiqui condemns discriminatory attitude towards domestic servants

Says this is a big question on our culture and teachings

Lahore (Pakistan Point News – 2nd May, 2018) tv actor Adnan Siddiqui has condemned the discriminatory practices being observed in Pakistan against domestic servants.

In his Instagram post with respect to Labour Day on May 1, the actor shared a picture having a sign board, saying, “Maids and Ayas are not allowed beyond this point.”

Criticizing this act, Siddiqui said this is a big question on our culture and teachings. “Is this how we should treat people working for us? We also work for someone, how would we feel if one day we see our Names there instead of theirs?” he said.

Comparing racism in Pakistan with that in other regions, the actor said, “We talk about racism in other regions of the world but reality is we are not less than those regions but worse.”

Calling out about the hypocrisy of people, he said, “How insanely disrespectful it is that we pay our domestic helpers to do our dishes but we don't allow them to eat in same dishes. Isn't it hypocrisy? Why don't we do something productive for such racist acts in our society as we do for other issues on social media? We all have same power it depends how we sincerely we use it.”

He said that he is coming forward to create awareness in the society with hashtag #EveryoneIsEqual.
