The campaign has been initiated after incidents of torture and harassment of tourists were reported
Murree (Pakistan Point News – 30th Apr, 2018) A ‘Boycott Murree’ campaign has been initiated on social media after several incidents of torture and harassment with the tourists have been reported.
Murree, known for its beauty, is a tourist spot of Pakistan attracting people from far off places. However, incidents of harassing the tourists also keep surfacing now and then.
Recently, a video got viral on social media where tourists going to a spot in Murree were being tortured. This led to a ‘Boycott Murree’ campaign on social media. Rallies were also held in this regard. The participants of the rallies held placards in their hands that read ‘We and our children are no safe in Murree’ and ‘Stop torturing tourists in Murree’. Other than that, slogans like ‘Tourist ko izzat do’ (Respect the tourists) were also written on the placards.
Following the campaign, many people have advised the tourists to avoid going to Murree as the local people torture them. The social media users said that the tourists should rather visit the areas of Azad Kashmir where they are given respect.
