Islamabad (Pakistan Point News - 27th Apr, 2018 ) National University of Sciences & Technology (NUST) carried out an extensive outreach campaign in Faisalabad, Lahore and Sialkot, led by Lt Gen Naweed Zaman, HI (M), (Retd), Rector NUST. The initiative was meant to increase awareness about NUST as Pakistan’s premier Higher Education Institution (HEI), and to strengthen partnerships with local industry of Punjab. The partnership domains range from R&D projects and industrial product development to infrastructure development.

During his address in Faisalabad on April 24, Rector NUST appreciated the support of notable representatives of business community including, Mr. Aftab Ahmed Director Hilal Textile Corporation and Ex-Chairman APTPMA, Mr. Mujtaba Hassan Director Chenab Engineering, and Mr. Khalid Habib Ex-President Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry. During the session held at Lahore on April 25, as many as 65 prominent community leaders, corporate heads, business owners and dignitaries representing Banking & Investment, Leather, automobile, Cement, Chemical and various other sectors attended the event.

Notable personalities included Mr. Rehmatullah Javed SME National Expert & Ex-Ambassador SAARC, Mr. Illyas Chaudhry Ex-President LCCI, Ms. Faaiza Amjad SVP Women Chamber of Commerce & Industry Lahore, and Mr. Umer Saleem Chairman Industry Academic Linkages LCCI. Sialkot city showed tremendous appreciation of NUST’s outreach efforts. Mr. Zahid Latif Malik, President Sialkot Chamber of Commerce &Industry (SCCI) pledged support for providing graduate employment. He also emphasised assessment of industry-specific needs of Sialkot and opening of NUST campus in the city. ‘Our mission is to make NUST a world-class and need-blind centre of excellence by providing quality education to everyone, who qualifies on merit,’ Head of NUST University Advancement Ms. Maria Qadri remarked during her presentation.
