RAWALPINDI, (Pakistan Point News - APP -22nd Sep,2016) : The District Coordination Officer (DCO) Talat Mahmood Gondal and City Police Officer (CPO) Israr Ahmed Khan Abbasi on Thursday jointly chaired the District Peace Committee meeting to discuss the foolproof security arrangements for Muharram ul Haram. On this occasion, Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) Operation, Irfan Tariq, Divisional SPs, SDPOs, members of District Peace Committee, religious scholars, Mutawal (guardians) of Imam Barghas from across the district and representatives of Anjuman-e-Tajran including Saif Ullah Safi, Mufti Mujeeb ur Rehman, Sheikh Hafeez, President Anjuman-e-Tajran City, Hafiz Iqbal Rizvi, Shoukat Jaffari, Pir Muhammad Saeed Naqshbandi, Mufti Inamullah, Syed Zahid Abbas Kazmi, Sheikh Tariq Masood, President Central Milad Committee and others were present.
The DCO appealed to the religious scholars to play their role for maintaining law and order during Muharram. The members presented their proposals while the religious scholars and Anjuman-e-Tajran representatives thanked the DCO and CPO for their role in maintaining law and order in the area and said that all out efforts should be made to provide security during Muharram. They said, "We always supported the administration to maintain law and order in the district and our help will also be available in future for the peace and tranquility of the district.
" The DCO while thanking all the participants said, Muharram is the month of reverence and respect for the Muslims of all schools of thought and Ulema should promote harmony and tolerance especially to help maintain peace and law and order. The CPO addressing the participants said, "We are also thankful to all of you as religious scholars, traders and citizens' active role is necessary to maintain law and order in the area." He assured that security would be provided to Majalis and the processions of mourners, and for this purpose a comprehensive plan would be implemented with the coordination of all departments concerned, religious scholars and leaders.
He said Ulema from all schools of thought should help the administration identify elements promoting religious hatred through provoking speeches so that peace and religious harmony could be maintained during Muharram. He informed that National Action Plan is strictly being implemented in the district.
