NA Standing Committee Of Cabinet Division Meets

KARACHI,(UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News -21st Sept,2016) : The meeting of National Assembly Standing Committee of Cabinet Division was held at PIA Head Office on Wednesday. It was presided by Chairman of the Standing Committee, Rana Muhammad Hayat Khan, says a statement here.

A comprehensive briefing on airline affairs was given to the members by CEO PIA, Bernd Hildenbrand, Secretary Aviation, Muhammad Irfan Illahi and PIA Directors. The Committee members mainly inquired about the call attention notice concerning suspension of certain PIA routes during the past four to five years namely Barcelona, Kathmandu, Bradford, Hongkong, Frankfurt etc.

The members were apprised that the main reason was shortage of fleet till 2013 and old aircraft present in the fleet during that time which were very costly to operate. However, as the airline is acquiring latest technology newer version aircraft, the airline is considering resuming its flight operations to Barcelona by end of December this year, while more destinations would be added in the coming years with the increase of aircraft in PIA fleet.

The members were also informed about the recently launched PIA Premier Service to London and the airlines overall domestic and international operations, sales and marketing, fleet planning, aircraft up-gradation, Customer services, food service and in-house training imparted to airline employees.

The meeting was attended by Sardar Muhammad Irfan Dogar, Roshan Din Junejo, Moulvi Agha Muhammad, Syed Javed Ali Shah, Rana Qasim Noon, Ms. Maryam Aurenzeb, Ms. Parveen Masood Bhatti, Ms. Shanaz Saleem, Dr. Mehreen Razzak Bhutto, Ms. Nafeesa Inayatullah Khan Khattak, Ms. Farhana Qamar and Ms. Seema Mohiuddin Jameeli.
