LHC Seeks Report Regrading Deployment Of Guards In School Buses

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News -20th Sept,2016) : Lahore High Court (LHC) Chief Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah on Tuesday sought a report from Punjab government regarding deployment of guards in pick-and-drop buses of schoolchildren.
The chief justice passed these orders while hearing a petition filed by one Ali Zain seeking directions for extension of summer vacations owing to an alleged increase in the number of kidnapping in various parts of the province.
During the hearing, Additional Inspector General of Police (AIGP) Ghazi Saleh ud Din, Vice Chancellor King Edward Medical University Prof Dr Faisal Masood and Director General Child Protection Bureau appeared before the court.
The AIGP submitted a report regarding missing children and apprised that special measures had been taken for security of schools.
He said that 7,036 children were reported missing from 2011 to 2016 whereas 6,890 children were recovered.
After court interference, 66 more children were recovered and efforts were being made to recover the remaining. Prof Dr Faisal Masood briefed the court regarding violations of rules in kidney transplant cases and pointed out lack of mechanism to check the violations.
An education department official told the court that notification had been issued regarding deployment of guards in school buses in accordance with court orders. At this, the court sought a report regarding deployment of guards in school buses till October 27 and formed a committee headed by Prof Dr Faisal Masood and sought recommendations for checking violations of rules in transplant cases, in a month.
