Supreme Court seeks details of NADRA overseas offices in 10 Days

The Supreme Court on Thursday took notice of overseas centers of the NADRA and directed the authority to submit details on the centers within 10 days.

Islamabad, (Pakistan Point News - 12th Apr, 2018) : The Supreme Court on Thursday took notice of overseas centers of the NADRA and directed the authority to submit details on the centers within 10 days. The directives came from the chief justice of Pakistan Justice Saqib Nisar presiding a three-member bench of the apex court over the case pertaining to increase in fees of the national identity cards for the overseas Pakistanis. The bench also comprises Justice Ijazul Ahsan and Justice Sajjad Ali Shah.

During the proceedings on Thursday, the foreign office representative informed the court that the summary to lower the fees of NICOP, national identity cards for overseas Pakistanis, has been approved. It is pertinent to mention here that during court hearing on March 26,�Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal appeared before the apex court and assured to provide relief to the overseas Pakistanis in national identity cards fee issue by next week.

Moreover, the chief justice directed the official to submit details of the expenditure incurred on the overseas offices of the NADRA and the employees deputed there. To this the foreign office official said that an estimated Rs 221.8 million expenditure was incurred on establishing the overseas offices of the NADRA and four of the centers were also closed. The chief justice directed the official to submit details of overseas units within 10 days.
