PM-CJP meeting: Abbasi requested Nisar to remove time limit from cases ,, CJP didn’t respond, kept smiling during the meeting

It has been revealed that Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi requested Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar to end time limit in the ongoing trial against Nawaz Sharif during the two-hour meeting held between the two last week

Islamabad (Pakistan Point News - 2nd Apr, 2018 ) It has been revealed that Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi requested Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar to end time limit in the ongoing trial against Nawaz Sharif during the two-hour meeting held between the two last week. The chief justice kept smiling during the meeting and did not give a positive or negative response. According to a news report published in a local newspaper, CJP Nisar did not talk much during the meeting and only listened to the prime minister.

Abbasi requested Nisar that the government would enforce every decision the chief justice gives. “Nothing has been proved against Nawaz Sharif in the Accountability Court cases so far and neither have any strong evidences nor witnesses come forward in this case,” he added. He requested the chief justice that the cases against Sharif family should be heard as normal cases until the formation a caretaker government. The prime minister said that we are not asking you to play any role in releasing Nawaz Sharif from these cases; we only want that our party be allowed to contest for the general elections like all other parties.

Abbasi said, “I feel the trial has been speeded up to break the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz or to refrain or create hurdles for the party to contest for the elections,” and added, “It seems that the Accountability Court has no other cases to hear except those against Nawaz Sharif and the Sharif family.” The prime minister requested that the cases be continued as normal ones, the time limit and restriction of a caretaker judge should be removed.

There should be a fair trial so there are no political objections. He said that Nawaz Sharif was not even allowed to visit her ailing wife despite a pre-requisite of a fair trial. The Accountability Court should at least give enough time to the Sharif family to contest for the upcoming elections. Sources said that Abbasi made a point that similar cases were made against former president Asif Ali Zardari and other politicians which have been underway for 20 years. Some have been decided now. We can also get such a relief, he said. The chief justice, however, listened to everything carefully but did not give any particular response. Many political leaders also expressed concerns over this meeting but several details regarding the meeting are now coming to the fore
