Faisalabad (Pakistan Point News - 31st Mar, 2018 ) In an important development in Abida murder case, the brother of her friend was arrested on Saturday.
Abida Ahmad, a resident of Sheerazi Park Jaranwala, was a student of MA English third semester in Government College University Faisalabad (GCUF) from where she was returning home on March 25 when she got missing in the way. When the family members went to the police station to lodge a complaint for their missing daughter, the police had suggested them to find her on their own.

An FIR was not even registered.
Four days later, her body was recovered from a canal near Chak No.83-GB in the area of Dijkot police station when it was found that the student was murdered after being raped.
Following the incident, students of various educational institutes in Faisalabad have been protesting over Abida’s murder.
After being forced to take an action, the police finally launched an investigation into the case.

In a latest and important development, after collecting evidences from Abida’s mobile data, the police have arrested the brother of Abida’s friend who is being interrogated.
Meanwhile, #JusticeforAbida is among the top trends on Twitter since yesterday. People are calling out the law enforcement institutions to provide justice to the young gold medalist.
That the incident took place in the hometown of Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah is an irony in itself.

Previously, the murder of eight-year-old Zainab after being raped in Kasur took the attention of media and civil society. The government has, however, failed to provide security to women in the country as similar cases keep surfacing, causing an outrage among the people.
